Atelier Arpente is a wildly creative laboratory that combines harvesting, reuse of materials and screen-printing using tinctorial plants to create and print local, eco-friendly graphic objects.

Frugal, local and responsible images

At the heart of the project is the intention to create images from landscapes. Along the way, I pick dye plants and draw inspiration from nature. Once picked, I cook the plants in my studio and transform them into inks and pigments. Thanks to silk-screen printing, I can then apply these inks into materials gleaned from waste (scrap wood, fabric, paper, etc.), transform the colors into images and reproduce them in small runs.

tinctorial plants

A dye plant / tinctorial plant is a plant whose parts can be used to prepare dyes and tinctures. Some plants can be cultivated, but most are found all around us. I'm developing a color chart in line with the resources available in the area and the seasons.

silk-screen printing

Screen printing is a stencil printing process. Printing is made possible by the screen through which the ink is pressed by the squeegee. For my part, I like to print in small runs and develop DIY techniques that enable me to be mobile (outdoor workshop) and transmit my skills to a wide public.

graphic objects

As part of an upcycling approach, I recycle materials such as fabrics, wood scraps and paper. Then I transform them into print support, and after silk-screening, into decorative objects. I produce and distribute objects with my visuals, but I'd like to offer to print for individuals or professionals.
